Tickets are on sale now for the 2020 Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival presented by Visit St. Pete Clearwater. The annual Sugar Sand Festival features architectural masterpieces created from Clearwater’s famous sugar sand to concerts, performers and daily entertainment – all on the no. 1 beach in America.

This year’s theme for the festival is “SANDimals, An Animal Adventure” and will run for 17 days, April 10-26 on bright and beautiful Clearwater Beach.

To add to all the excitement and entertainment, the Sunsets at Pier 60 Festival will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary during the Sugar Sand Festival. Sunsets at Pier 60 is a nightly sunset celebration featuring artisans, street performers and Clearwater’s world famous Pier 60 sunsets. The celebration takes place 365 days a year (weather permitting) – beginning two hours before, and lasting until two hours after sunset.

Each year the Sugar Sand Festival strives to be an ocean-friendly event, sponsoring beach clean-ups and more. This year will be no different. The Sugar Sand Festival has teamed up with Keep Pinellas Beautiful for an Earth Day 50th Anniversary Sunset Beach Clean-Up Celebration on Earth Day, April 22 from 6-8:30 p.m. The first 500 participants to volunteer will receive an eco-friendly gift provided by Cooters Restaurant and Bar. After the beach clean-up stick around for a special Sunset Cinema screening of The Lorax in Pier 60 Park.

Speaking of volunteers, volunteer registration is also now open. A big part of the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival being a success is due to the many volunteers, a.k.a. “Sand Ambassadors.” Organizers will be looking to fill more than 1,200 volunteer shifts in the exhibit area, merchandise area, sand sculpting and giant sandbox area, and the VIP and entertainment spaces. Those who volunteer will receive a free T-shirt, complimentary meal, complimentary parking, transportation from downtown Clearwater, and free admission to the festival the day of their shift.

Businesses can also sign up for a minimum of 10 volunteer shifts. Businesses choosing to do this will receive on-site logo recognition, one social media post, and all other volunteer benefits.

Each year, the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival continues to grow in popularity and garner national attention. Last year’s event drew in more than 200,000 visitors throughout its 17-day run. The festival has also received numerous awards and continues to attract visitors from around the world.

About the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival

Fourteen world-class artists craft elaborate sand sculptures from Clearwater’s internationally famous sugar sand. The works of art are on display in a 21,000-square-foot structure. More than 1,000 tons of Clearwater sand takes on a new life, bringing visitors on a “sandtastic” adventure. The festival is a joint effort between Sunsets at Pier 60 Daily Festival, a 501(c)3 organization, and the city of Clearwater.
